Mourinho: I told my Roma players I felt ashamed of being their coach

Jose Mourinho told his Roma players he felt ashamed of being their coach before they recovered from a goal down at half-time to draw 1-1 against Juventus.

Roma had won their opening two Serie A games without conceding but fell behind to a Dusan Vlahovic free-kick inside 76 seconds at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday.

Juve had a second goal through Manuel Locatelli ruled out for a Vlahovic handball in the build-up in a half the home side dominated, outshooting their opponents 10 to three.

Mourinho responded by replacing Gianluca Mancini and Leonardo Spinazzola with Stephan El Shaarawy and Nicola Zalewski at the break, and Roma improved in the second half.

The visitors found a way through from one of their three efforts on target in the second period, with …

Salah: Real Madrid or Barcelona… who knows?

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah refused to rule out a move to LaLiga champions Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Salah has been a revelation since joining Liverpool from Serie A side Roma in 2017, spearheading the Reds to Champions League and Premier League glory.

The Egypt international s exploits have not gone unnoticed at Anfield amid speculation linking him with Spanish giants Madrid and Barca.

Asked if he could rule out a transfer to either of the LaLiga powerhouses, Salah told Diario AS: I think Madrid and Barcelona are two top clubs.

Sissoko could miss two weeks – Pochettino

Moussa Sissoko could miss the first leg of Tottenham s Champions League semi-final against Ajax according to Mauricio Pochettino, who said the midfielder could be out for the next two weeks .

Spurs lost 1-0 to Manchester City three days after Sissoko picked up a groin injury in the second leg of their stunning Champions League quarter-final victory over Pep Guardiola s men and Pochettino said that he was not optimistic about the Frenchman s chances of a quick recovery.

Home games against Brighton and Hove Albion, and West Ham in the Premier League will give Spurs the chance to continue their push for third place in the Premier League ahead of the visit of Ajax, but Pochettino said he is not expecting Sissoko or fellow midfielder Harry Winks to feature.

Ricketts family pledge to ´never´ involve Chelsea in Super League revival, also address diversity co

The Ricketts family have pledged to never involve Chelsea in a European Super League, in a statement released by the prospective buyers of the West London club.

Chelsea were one of six Premier League sides to sign up to the ill-fated launch of the Super League in April 2021, with Stamford Bridge the scene of fierce fan protests after the club s involvement was announced.

The Ricketts family, who own Major League Baseball outfit the Chicago Cubs, are looking to buy the club after owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government last month.

Furthermore, the family pledged to put diversity and inclusion at the heart of their prospective regime after their bid was subject to protests from Chelsea fans.

A statement containing a list of eight speci…

West Ham United Dawson bid rejected

West Bromwich Albion have rejected an approach from West Ham United for defender Craig Dawson, according to the Telegraph.

The twenty-eight-year-old is being eyed by a whole host of top flight clubs with the Baggies holding out for a fee of around £20m £8m more than the fee stumped up by the Hammers while Burnley have also failed with bids of their own.

Dawson moved to the Hawthorns from Rochdale in the summer of 2011 and has since racked up one hundred and eighty appearances in all competitions, scoring twelve goals.

He was even more prolific for the Dale netting eleven goals in each of his two seasons with the club while he scored four goals in sixteen games during a loan spell with Bolton Wanderers during the 2012/13 campaign.

Internationally he…

´Actor´ Neymar up for a Razzie as Belgium´s ´golden generation´ upstage Brazil

Having fought for the lead role for Brazil at Russia 2018, Neymar ultimately failed to inspire much of an ovation as the five-time World Cup winners were upstaged by Belgium s so-called golden generation and dumped out in Friday s quarter-final.

If Belgium s performance was as gripping and well-structured as an Oscar-winning classic, Neymar and Brazil were the antithesis, full of emotion, often desperate and lacking in substance, the Selecao s display possessing parallels with a Golden Raspberry-grabbing picture rather than one worthy of an Academy Award.

Talk surrounding Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio s actor accusation aimed at Neymar dominated much of the build-up.

While Osorio of course meant the word in the context of Neymar s frequent theatrical over-react…

Talking Point: Is Luke Shaw now the Premier League´s best attacking full-back?

Manchester United s opening-day 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace was a chastening reminder of the team s frailties, but there was a somewhat surprising voice behind the subsequent call-to-action for the club s hierarchy.

Luke Shaw provided undoubtedly the most honest assessment of the situation among United players, this from a player who had rarely come across as a natural leader during his time at the club.

We have a very good group, but personally I think we need more players to strengthen the squad, he told Norway s TV2. It can give us a boost. When you look around at how other teams are strengthening their teams, then we must also do it to keep up with the others.

Perhaps the fact he wasn t speaking to a British outlet resulted in a more relaxed, open response…

Fenerbahce insist Ozil signing not a possibility

Fenerbahce have distanced themselves from reports linking them with Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, adamant they cannot afford the playmaker.

Ozil joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013, and although he has been a key player for much of that time, he has also polarised opinion among the club s supporters.

After an underwhelming season under Unai Emery last term, media speculation had suggested Arsenal are willing to offload Ozil in order to lighten their wage bill, but Fenerbahce insist rumours of a loan move are wide of the mark.

A Fenerbahce statement read: Mesut Ozil, with his career and standing, successfully represents our country abroad. He is an important value known with the identity of Fenerbahce.

However, Fenerbahce does not have a proposal for Mesu…

Tottenham 2-3 Bayern Munich: Muller proves the difference on Kane´s return

Bayern Munich hold on to earn a 3-2 friendly win over Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

Dejan Kulusevski s strikes bookended the goals, with Dayot Upamecano, Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller s first-half efforts enough to see out the victory.

The home fans were immediately treated to an opener, as Kulusevski netted from close range after just 26 seconds, though they failed to build any momentum on the back of it.

Bayern s pressure soon paid off as Upamecano latched onto Mathys Tel s saved shot to bundle in an equaliser in the 16th minute.

Gnabry turned the game on its head just after the half-hour mark, getting the better of Guglielmo Vicario from long range, and a third goal was not far behind, with Muller heading Bayern into a two-go…
