Kahn: Neuer has room to improve

Bayern Munich great Oliver Kahn feels that the club s current goalkeeper Manuel Neuer needs to improve his concentration.

Kahn has been impressed with Neuer s performances since arriving from Schalke at the end of last season but admits that he is somewhat concerned by the 25-year-old s propensity for switching off mentally.

He s finding out how difficult it can be if you only have one or two saves to make in an entire match, the former Germany goalkeeper told Fifa.com.

You have to be 100 per cent alert and totally focused the whole time. But Neuer is a goalkeeper who could come to characterise an era at Bayern.

Given his standing with the club, Kahn has been touted to return to Bayern in some sort of coaching capacity.

However, the 42-year-old insists that it is not something that he is currently considering.

I have so many other activities at the moment, so I m not looking for a way back into football, Kahn said.

There are other things and challenges away from the game. But obviously, I remain an interested observer of the club.

Kahn, who was capped 86 times by his country, spent 14 years with Bayern before retiring from the game in 2008.
